Pre-term almost over!

Update from the airport…(Well, I'm typing this text during a 3 hour layover in Nashville, Tennessee, but lacking free internet, so will be posting this later!)

So what happened last week?

Our Section attempted to have a Happy Hour with Section 5 - though there were some rogue Section 3ers, it was a good turn out at Tyler's Taproom.

I also figured out the health system, sort of. Running out of prescriptions, I kept failing at being able to schedule an appointment online…then discovered that students have their own portal (isn't that confusing!?) to log in. No copay, and at least now, before most of the population has gotten here, it was pretty easy to get an appointment (I could have gotten one the same day!)

Our classes ended last week, which meant finals. GIE was open notes/open book (well, open course-pack & slides)…and yet we still all pretty much felt a bit stupid after finishing it! I didn't need the 3 hours, but the professor had a way of writing a tricky test, where every single word counted, and you really needed to find the "best" answer, not just the right one!….for LEO we were able to bring in 1 page (double-sided) of notes; people got pretty creative with handwriting, highlighting, or typing. I for one fit about 4336 words on mine (size 7 font, .3 inch margins, and then printed 2 to a page!).  I actually spent most of my exam time trying to make sure my handwriting for the essay portion as legible...Of course the exercise in doing the 1-pagers is that you don't really need it after you're done since you'd spent so much time on it! Somewhat reminded me of the notecards we used to be allowed to bring in for biology class in 9th grade…

After finals, before my flight to Cali (2 friends marrying each other, couldn't miss it!), I was able to convince 5 others to come to a kickbox bag class with me at the campus gym. It was really fun; my muscles are still sore. It's always at noon on Fridays, and I *think* our section's schedule works out that I could squeeze it in, at least for Fall 1. Crossing fingers!

Next week (starting tomorrow) includes two career center days, as well as the last chance to take any exception exams. I hadn't thought about the latter at all, but now they've sent 2 emails urging people to try for the Stats one, so I might go for it. However, I should be studying for that right now, and instead I'm finding other things to keep me busy (productive procrastination!)

PS flying across the country isn't fun. Especially going west to east…! Been spoiled going up and down California!
